Are Coffee Dates A Cop-Out? Finally An Answer To The Age-Old Dating Question
Single baddies have been debating what's in and what's out in the dating world, and one topic that remains piping hot is the coffee date.
In an increasingly fast-paced dating landscape, certified dating and relationship coach Sabrina Zohar is advocating for a more intentional approach to initial encounters, particularly championing the often-underestimated 'coffee date.' In a recent video, Zohar challenged the conventional wisdom that dismisses coffee dates as cheap or lazy, arguing instead that they serve as a crucial vetting tool for singles. 'Coffee dates aren’t the issue, it’s the person’s intentions,' Zohar stated, emphasizing that a brief, low-pressure meeting allows individuals to assess compatibility without the significant time and financial investment of a dinner date. She highlighted the benefit of stripping away the distractions of elaborate settings and alcohol, enabling daters to truly get to know someone for who they are. Zohar shared a personal anecdote to underscore her point, recounting her own successful first date with her partner, which involved a hike followed by dinner. 'Here we are almost three years later, celebrating each other and really happy,' she remarked, attributing their strong connection to the intentionality of their early interactions. The coach further elaborated on the concept of 'high value' in dating, asserting that it stems from an individual's ethics, morals, and ability to set boundaries, rather than the perceived grandeur of a date. 'What makes you high value is that you have ethics, morals and ethos, and that you set boundaries and are considerate about your time and other people’s,' she explained. Zohar concluded by stressing the importance of valuing one's own time and actively choosing partners who align with one's values, rather than passively waiting to be chosen.
