Transgender Woman Ouryel Discusses Post-Op Challenges and Need for Further Procedures
In a recent interview, Ouryel, a prominent transgender figure, opened up about the complexities of post-operative care following her gender affirmation surgery. She revealed that a period of sexual abstinence led to a decrease in the depth and width of her neovagina, a common but often unaddressed challenge for transgender women. "I lost depth at the level of the vagina," Ouryel stated, explaining that the lack of regular dilation resulted in a narrowing of the canal. She clarified that while her neovagina is not 'closed,' it has become tighter, impacting comfort during sexual activity. To address this, Ouryel shared that she might undergo a significant dilation procedure under general anesthesia. "They will put me in the operating room, put me to sleep, and force the passage of my little caves to try to regain some width without me feeling pain because I will be asleep," she explained. However, she emphasized that this is not a full re-operation, which would involve more complex procedures, and she has no plans for such an intervention. Ouryel also used her platform to educate viewers, drawing parallels with cisgender women's experiences. "It's not because you're a cisgender woman that your vulva should accommodate any kind of intercourse," she noted, highlighting issues like vaginismus and natural lubrication differences. She stressed that a woman's sexual organ is deeply psychological and that maintenance is crucial, especially for transgender women. "It's important that all women know this, even cis women," she added, advocating for greater awareness and understanding of diverse sexual health needs.
