Sara Davies MBE Advocates for Cervical Screening Awareness, Shares Personal Experience
London, UK – In observance of Cervical Screening Awareness Week, entrepreneur and television personality Sara Davies MBE has shared her personal experience with cervical screening to advocate for women's health. Davies highlighted new research from The Lady Garden Foundation revealing that nearly 50% of women feel pressured to prioritize work over essential medical appointments, with a third stating their workplace would not consider cervical screening a valid reason for absence. To counter this trend and encourage proactive health measures, Davies documented her own cervical screening appointment. "It's super quick, straightforward, and over in minutes," she stated, aiming to demystify the process and alleviate common anxieties surrounding the procedure. Davies emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing health, citing personal connections to gynaecological cancers and stressing that cervical cancer is 99.8% preventable through regular screenings and HPV vaccination. Her initiative supports The Lady Garden Foundation's 'Encourage Your Team to Screen' campaign, which urges employers to grant staff time off for these life-saving appointments. Davies concluded her message by urging all women, especially those with busy schedules, to book their screenings, reinforcing that health should always come first.
