Niterói Lawyer Arrested for Luxury Apartment Robbery A brazen robbery in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, has led to the arrest of a local lawyer. Security footage shows the suspect, identified as Luís Maurício Martins Gualda, using a remarkably realistic silicone mask to disguise himself during the theft at a luxury apartment building. The theft occurred on February 7th, 2025. The sophisticated disguise initially hampered the investigation, but police were able to identify Gualda based on his unique gait and other details visible in the security footage. "We were able to identify him not just by the mask, but by his walk and other details," stated a police spokesperson. Gualda was apprehended and subsequently confessed to the crime. He claimed his motive was to steal $1 million in cash that he believed was hidden in the apartment. However, he was unsuccessful in locating the money and was only able to steal ten watches, valued at R$80,000.
