Ex-Partner Confesses to Murder, Body Searched in São Paulo River
Police in São Paulo, Brazil, are searching for the body of Amanda Caroline Almeida, 32, who was reported missing earlier this week. Her ex-partner, Carlos Eduardo de Souza Ribeiro, 35, has confessed to her murder and revealed that he disposed of her body in the Tietê River with the help of his brother, Henrique Souza Ribeiro, 38. Both men are currently in custody. According to police, security camera footage shows the suspects arriving at Almeida's residence. "The vehicle belonging to Carlos arrived accompanied by another person, who we later learned was his brother," stated José Luiz Nogueira, the investigating delegate. In his testimony, Ribeiro did not disclose a motive, but police say the couple had separated recently and Ribeiro had assaulted Almeida the previous month. The couple had been together for 16 years and had three children. Almeida was last seen on Sunday when she left her children with their father to meet a friend at a bar. The investigation is ongoing, and the search for Almeida's body continues.
