Brazilian Police Bust Counterfeit Ozempic Ring After Woman's Hospitalization
A major police operation was launched in Brazil following the hospitalization of a woman who suffered severe complications after using a counterfeit Ozempic weight-loss drug. The operation, which took place in several cities across Santa Catarina and Goiás states, resulted in the seizure of luxury vehicles and a large quantity of counterfeit medications. According to police reports, the gang was also distributing anabolic steroids and abortion pills. "The investigation began with a victim's report," stated a police spokesperson. The spokesperson added that the counterfeit drugs were sold at prices significantly below market value via social media. Those involved face 10 to 15 years in prison for the crime. This case highlights the dangers of purchasing medication from unregulated sources and the ongoing efforts to combat the illegal distribution of counterfeit drugs.
