Jealousy Leads to Murder: Teen Confesses to Arsenic Cake Poisoning

A 17-year-old girl from Itapecerica da Serra, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, Brazil, was arrested on Tuesday, June 3rd, for the poisoning death of her 17-year-old classmate, Ana Luiza de Oliveira Neves. The suspect confessed to adding arsenic to a small cake, motivated by jealousy. Ana Luiza's father, Silvio Ferreira das Neves, recounted the events: "After she ate a bit of the cake, she started feeling very ill, vomiting and having diarrhea." He took his daughter to the hospital, but she passed away. The suspect purchased the arsenic online for R$80.00.
