Operation Mirakel Nets Two in Bahia Ozempic, Mounjaro Theft Ring
Salvador, Bahia, Brazil – In a significant crackdown on a criminal network targeting expensive weight-loss medications, the Bahia Civil Police launched Operation Mirakel. The operation's first phase resulted in the arrest of two key figures and the disruption of a group responsible for stealing Ozempic and Mounjaro from at least 23 pharmacies across the city. The total losses are estimated to be nearly R$2 million. According to police investigations, the group employed a clever strategy, using adolescents to carry out the robberies while disguising themselves as delivery drivers to gain access to the pharmacies. 'The criminals were very organized,' said a police spokesperson. 'They targeted high-value medications and used minors to avoid detection.' The operation serves as a warning against the growing threat of organized crime targeting pharmaceuticals and highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to combat such activities. The recovery of stolen goods and the arrests of the ringleaders mark a significant step forward in this ongoing investigation.
