São Paulo Police Kill Suspect in Businessman's Murder On Friday morning, June 6th, 2025, a suspect in the murder of businessman Francisco Paulo Filippo was fatally shot by officers from the São Paulo State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic). The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Wesllen Medeiros da Silva, had a temporary arrest warrant issued against him. Police responded to Silva's residence in an attempt to apprehend him. According to Delegate Sérgio Ricardo, "...he ended up attacking the team that was there, drawing a firearm. The officer had to take the necessary action, resulting in the shooting." Two other men were also detained at Silva's residence. However, Delegate Thiago Delgado stated that the police "do not believe there was a reaction...but he probably tried to flee from the perpetrators, leading to the fatal shooting." While the investigation continues, the police are exploring the potential involvement of the two detained men in other robberies. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating crime in São Paulo.
