A video from SBT News captures the immediate aftermath, showing the wounded driver being rescued from his bus. "I thought I wasn't going to get out alive," said a passenger on the bus, recounting the experience. "There was so much shooting, so much shooting. When the driver was hit, everything got worse; everyone panicked. It was terrible, really terrible." The SBT News footage shows the driver being carefully carried away by firefighters and paramedics. The video also shows damage to the bus, including a shattered window. Authorities later confirmed the driver was transported to the Geral Hospital in Nova Iguaçu and is in stable condition. The bus company, Evanil, reported that ten of its buses were damaged in the incident, and another passenger was also injured. The operation, which closed down major roadways including Avenida Brasil and Linha Vermelha, highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in the region.
