Cancún, Mexico – An incident involving alleged racial harassment at the Royalton Splash Riviera in Cancún has ignited a firestorm online, leading to the identification and termination of one of the individuals involved. The video, uploaded by a Vietnamese tourist, documents a confrontation that occurred after two men allegedly directed racist remarks at the tourist and his girlfriend. According to the video's author, the incident began in an elevator when two men entered and one remarked, “Oh look, some Asians.” As they exited on their floor, the man in a black shirt reportedly turned back and said, “Ching Chang Chong.” The author immediately stopped the elevator doors and confronted the men, capturing the exchange on video. In the footage, the man in the black shirt is seen continuing to make offensive statements, including, “can you see or can you not” and "you guys can't drive." The author repeatedly questioned their behavior, asking, "Why are you being rude, bro? What's the problem?" The man in the black shirt responded, "I will come for your ass, I'm having it with it," and later repeated the slur, "Ching Chong Chong." The author warned him, "You got to be famous, bro," to which the man replied, "Yes, I'm sure I am." The video quickly went viral, garnering over 1.5 million views and thousands of comments. Social media users swiftly identified one of the men as Connor Sanchez, a finance manager at Volkswagen Wesley Chapel in Florida. Within hours of the identification, Volkswagen Wesley Chapel confirmed Sanchez's termination via their Instagram account, denouncing his behavior. The other individual was reportedly identified as Joseph Montefusco, believed to be Sanchez's father. "This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I believe no one should have to experience this type of harassment," the author stated in the video's description. "By sharing this video, I hope the power of social media can help identify these individuals and hold them accountable." The incident has sparked widespread discussion online about racial discrimination and the role of social media in holding individuals accountable for their actions.
