Kazakhstan Opens Strategic Black Sea Port Terminal in Georgia Kazakhstan has significantly expanded its access to European markets with the recent opening of a new port terminal in Poti, Georgia. The project, a collaboration between Kazakh and Georgian entities, represents a major step in enhancing regional trade and logistics. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced technology, including two unique gantry cranes, which are the first of their kind in the Caucasus region. This upgrade promises to streamline cargo handling and significantly reduce transit times. "This is a key development for Kazakhstan's logistics chain," said Olzhas Arykbaev, General Director of Poti TransTerminal. "It provides a direct and efficient route to the Black Sea and beyond." The terminal's capacity is designed to handle 80,000 containers annually, substantially increasing the volume of goods transported via the Trans-Caspian route. The project's success is also highlighted by Dzhany Katamadze, Operational Director of Poti TransTerminal, who emphasized the increased throughput capacity and job creation. He also noted the speed advantage over traditional rail routes, stating that the sea route is significantly faster. The port's advanced infrastructure, including the new cranes, enables efficient handling of up to 50 containers per hour. The Poti terminal's opening is a testament to successful international cooperation and a significant boost to regional trade. The modern infrastructure promises to not only benefit Kazakhstan but also the broader Black Sea region and Europe.
