In a recent clip from the popular series "Ted," characters Johnny and Ted presented a convoluted theory regarding the classic Halloween song "The Monster Mash." The duo, with Ted holding a diagram, posited that the song was inspired by a dance, which itself was inspired by a non-existent song, all bearing the same title. "That song does not exist in our universe," Ted declared, asserting that their new composition would "take our reality to the innermost circle for the first time in the history of the cosmos." Fellow character Blaire reacted with understandable skepticism, questioning the relevance of such a song in 1993, the show's setting, and suggesting that contemporary music, particularly hip hop, focuses on "real stories." Despite her reservations and a request for $2,000 for studio time, Johnny and Ted proceeded to perform their revised version, concluding with the unexpected line, "It's hard being black," adding a layer of comedic absurdity to their musical endeavor.
