Kampala, Uganda – Hajjat Stecia, a prominent public figure, has reportedly been expelled from the National Unity Platform (NPP) party following her performance at a National Resistance Movement (NRM) rally. The incident has ignited discussions within political circles regarding party loyalty and cross-party engagements. Speaking to reporters on a Kampala street, a spokesperson for the NPP, stated, "Hajjat Stecia's actions were a clear violation of party principles. When one chooses to align with another party, especially a rival, it undermines the trust and commitment expected from a member." He emphasized the importance of maintaining a unified front, particularly in the current political climate. The spokesperson further elaborated on the party's stance, indicating that such actions are considered a betrayal of the party's ideology and its supporters. "We cannot tolerate members who openly support opposing factions. This sets a dangerous precedent and weakens the party's resolve," he added. The NRM, Uganda's ruling party, frequently holds rallies and events, and the appearance of opposition members at such gatherings often sparks controversy. This development underscores the strict adherence to party lines expected from political figures in Uganda. The NPP has yet to release an official statement detailing the specifics of the expulsion, but the sentiments expressed by the spokesperson suggest a firm decision has been made.
