Two Arrested in Connection with Pataz Massacre; Illegal Mines Destroyed

A massacre of 13 security workers in the Peruvian region of Pataz has led to the arrest of two suspects, Elmer Espinoza Alva (21) and Stalin Rojas Aguilar (28). Police found firearms on the suspects during their apprehension at a bar in Pueblo Nuevo. The operation also involved the destruction of 12 illegal mines and 5 processing plants, valued at over 36 million soles. "This represents a significant blow to criminal organizations operating outside the law in this area," stated a police source.
