Jorge Campos Pinpoints Core Issue in Mexican Football: Directors' Lack of Vision and Advice
MEXICO CITY – Legendary Mexican goalkeeper Jorge Campos has offered a stark assessment of the challenges facing Mexican football, asserting that the primary obstacle to the national team's progress lies not with the players, but with the sport's directors. In a recent interview, Campos stated, "It's not the players' fault, it's the directors." Campos elaborated on his views, highlighting a perceived lack of understanding of proper processes and a failure to seek external expertise within the Mexican football leadership. "They don't know," Campos said, referring to the directors. "They don't have the super quality at that level, because you see it. Right now, Canada comes and gives us a dance. The United States comes and touches the ball to us." He emphasized the need for professional guidance, noting that in other parts of the world, including the United States where he currently resides, "for everything, they ask for advice, and you pay for it." Campos concluded that without competent leadership and proper structure, Mexican football cannot thrive. "If our directors, who are the head, are not well, then automatically our football will not be well," he added, stressing the importance of a well-programmed and structured approach for future success.
