Two-year-old Kutlwano Shalaba's body was found in a shallow grave near Randfontein, West of Johannesburg, six months after he was reported missing. His mother, Kinewe Shalaba, and a traditional healer, Sibhukwana Kwayana, have been arrested and charged with murder and child trafficking. Kwayana led police to the grave after confessing to his involvement in the crime. The case has shocked the nation and highlights the ongoing challenges of child safety and justice in South Africa. "The traditional healer confessed to being part of the crime," a police source told SowetanLIVE. Shalaba was denied bail in February despite being heavily pregnant at the time. The case was postponed to June 5th for Kwayana to get legal representation. This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable children and bringing those responsible for their harm to justice.
