Importancia de la Semana de la Conciencia Asexual
Desde 2010, en octubre se conmemora la Semana de la Conciencia Asexual (de la Asexualidad, Visibilidad Asexual o Ace Week)
In a recent illuminating video, Hanz Acevedo of Homosensual provided a comprehensive overview of asexuality, defining it as a legitimate sexual orientation often misunderstood. Acevedo emphasized that asexuality is not a temporary phase, a choice of celibacy, or a result of emotional issues. "Asexuality is a valid orientation, just like homosexuality or heterosexuality," Acevedo stated, aiming to dispel common misconceptions. The video detailed four distinct types of asexuality: Type A, where individuals experience sexual impulses but no attraction; Type B, characterized by romantic attraction without sexual impulse; Type C, involving both sexual impulses and romantic attractions but no personal connection; and Type D, for those who experience none of these. Acevedo also introduced the concept of grisexuality, an intermediate space on the spectrum that includes demisexuality, highlighting the diversity within asexual experiences. "It's not black or white; there's a gray area," he explained. The report concluded by noting that an estimated 75 million people worldwide identify as asexual, underscoring their significant presence within the LGBTTIQAP+ community and advocating for greater understanding and inclusion.
