
TIFF 2025: Cluj-Napoca Celebrates Cinema, Honors Florin Piersic
Cluj-Napoca, Romania, became the center of international cinema for ten days as the 24th edition of the Transylvanian International Film Festival (TIFF) commenced on Friday evening. Thousands gathered in Unirii Square to celebrate the opening. The festival showcased around 200 films from over 50 countries. A special highlight of the opening ceremony was the presentation of an award for excellence to the beloved Romanian actor, Florin Piersic. Piersic, in an interview, stated, "I'm holding on tight, I'm holding on tight to the women so I don't fall; otherwise, I'm fine." Actress Medeea Marinescu shared her memories of working alongside Piersic, stating, "My last performance with Florin Piersic was a year ago in Cluj." The festival continues until June 22nd, promising a rich program of films and events. The event serves as a testament to the vibrancy of Romanian cinema and its international recognition.
