NSW Floods Claim Fourth Life as Devastating Weather Moves South A man has died after his car was swept away by floodwaters north-west of Coffs Harbour, bringing the death toll from the current NSW floods to four. The incident occurred early this morning, according to Deputy Commissioner Peter Thurtell of NSW Police. "Sadly overnight we have lost another life from this flood event," he stated in a press conference featured in a social media video. The victim, a man in his late 70s, was found around 4:30 AM near Nana Glen. Police believe he drove into floodwaters, and his vehicle was swept off a causeway. The video also highlights the ongoing search for a 49-year-old man from the Nymboida area, last seen crossing a flooded causeway several nights ago. The footage shows extensive flooding and damage to roads and property. Deputy Commissioner Thurtell urged the public to exercise extreme caution, stating, "Please do not drive into floodwaters...the roads are more dangerous." He emphasized the need for responsible driving and awareness of pedestrians during these severe weather conditions. The storm is now moving south towards Sydney, where two more fatal accidents have occurred overnight. The community is urged to stay informed and remain vigilant during this challenging time.
