Snowy Mountains Ski Season Starts with a Bang!
Heavy Snowfall Blankets NSW Snowy Mountains, Delight for Skiers, Contrast to Sydney's Chill. The June long weekend brought a welcome surprise to skiers in the NSW Snowy Mountains. Perisher Valley ski resort reported a significant 60 centimeters of snowfall over Saturday and Sunday, with the majority falling on Saturday. "It was a huge dump," said a spokesperson for Perisher, "creating excellent conditions for the start of the season." The snow wasn't limited to Perisher; Thredbo also saw a considerable amount of snowfall, approximately 30 centimeters over the weekend. While the heavy snowfall delighted skiers, it also highlighted the contrast with the cold and wet conditions experienced in Sydney. The contrast between the snowy mountains and the city's weather made for a memorable long weekend for many. Despite the promising start, weather forecasts predict a warmer than average winter.
