Penang Politician Addresses Concerns Over Hindu Temple Support In Malaysia, YB Syerleena Rashid, the Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera, recently addressed concerns about her commitment to supporting Hindu temples in her constituency. The concerns, raised on social media, questioned whether her support was equitable to other religious groups. Rashid, in a recent video, directly countered these claims. "I've provided financial assistance and improvements to various religious places of worship, including mosques, churches, and temples," Rashid stated in the video. She cited specific instances, including a RM75,000 allocation for various temples and a nearly RM200,000 contribution for road and parking improvements at a temple. She also mentioned providing chairs and repairing the roof of another temple. The video also showed her distributing food during Thaipusam. The video highlights her efforts to support all communities, regardless of religious background. A local community leader commented, "It's important for our representatives to show they care for all their constituents, and this video demonstrates YB Syerleena's commitment to inclusivity." This video serves as a response to criticism and a reminder of the importance of equitable representation for all religious communities in Malaysia.
