Hřensko, Czech Republic – The picturesque Edmund Gorge in Bohemian Switzerland National Park has officially reopened to visitors, three years after a catastrophic forest fire, the largest in Czech history, ravaged the region in 2022. The reopening marks a significant milestone in the area's recovery, allowing tourists once again to experience its unique natural beauty. Authorities have implemented new, stringent regulations to ensure the protection of the recovering ecosystem. "Entry to the gorge is currently limited to a maximum of 50 people per day," stated a representative, emphasizing the focus on sustainable tourism. "Visitors are required to be accompanied by a guide, and tickets can only be purchased on-site, with daily decisions made regarding trail availability." The new rules also mandate that tourists wear sturdy trekking shoes for their safety and to minimize environmental impact. Furthermore, dogs and child strollers are currently prohibited on the trail. Despite these restrictions, early visitors have expressed awe at the resilience of nature. One visitor, Sylvia Voyages, shared her experience, noting the "magic of the regenerating nature" and the "unforgettable boat trip" through the gorge. The reopening offers a renewed opportunity to witness the slow but steady rebirth of this cherished natural wonder.
