
109 Drivers Fined for Using Phones at A7 Motorway Accident Scene
On Thursday morning, a serious accident on the A7 motorway near Roche-de-Glun, France, resulted in a major traffic jam. The incident involved a heavy goods vehicle whose driver fell asleep at the wheel. According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, the ensuing traffic jam allowed the gendarmerie to visually identify 109 drivers using their phones. These drivers will receive fines of €135, reduced to €90 if paid within 15 days, and a penalty of 3 points on their driving licenses. Captain Albanau of the Drôme départemental security squadron (EDSR) confirmed the information, explaining that while drivers were not stopped, their license plates were recorded.
