A mechanic from "Talleres Ebenezer" recently shared insights into the premature failure of modern car engines, citing a 4-year-old Peugeot with only 50,000 kilometers that presented with severely deformed engine cylinders. Despite the vehicle having a complete service history from official dealerships, the mechanic demonstrated the extremely degraded state of its engine oil, indicating significant internal wear. He contrasted this with older car models, such as a 20-year-old Volkswagen Golf with 500,000 kilometers, which he claimed exhibited superior durability. The mechanic expressed concern over the current trend in automotive manufacturing, where engines are becoming smaller and seemingly less robust, leading to costly repairs for owners. "It's unacceptable that someone spends a fortune on a new car, expecting reliability, only for it to break down so soon," the mechanic stated. He advised potential car buyers to conduct thorough research on vehicle types and engine reliability before making a purchase, to avoid unforeseen financial burdens and the eventual need to sell or discard a relatively new vehicle due to irreparable damage.
