Google's Android XR Smart Glasses: A Hands-On Review
Google Unveils Android XR Prototype Smart Glasses at I/O: A TechRadar Hands-On Review Google recently showcased its Android XR prototype smart glasses at its annual I/O developer conference. TechRadar's Philip Berne had the opportunity to try them out and shared his insights. The glasses, developed in partnership with Samsung, are not yet a finished consumer product but rather a tool to enable development and testing. Berne's review focused on the glasses' limited functionality. He noted that they primarily display time and weather information. However, the Google Maps integration was a highlight. "You can see it kind of creates a plane of the map, and as I move down, that plane remains kind of parallel to the ground," Berne observed. He also pointed out that while looking up, the glasses simply displayed distance information, but when looking down, a more detailed map appeared. While the current capabilities are basic, the prototype's potential is significant. It demonstrates Google's progress in developing augmented reality technology and its collaboration with Samsung. The review offers a glimpse into the future of smart glasses and the possibilities they hold for consumers.
