DJI Unveils Osmo 360 Camera: A New Contender in the 360-Degree Market
Tech enthusiasts are buzzing with the official launch of the DJI Osmo 360, marking the company's first foray into the 360-degree camera segment. The new device aims to challenge established players like the Insta360 X5 with its impressive specifications. The DJI Osmo 360 boasts an industry-first 1-inch sensor for 360-degree capture, promising enhanced image quality, particularly in low-light conditions, and greater detail in bright scenes. It supports 8K video recording at higher frame rates, reaching up to 50 frames per second, and offers a substantial runtime of up to 100 minutes when shooting 8K video at 30 frames per second.Weighing in at 184 grams, the Osmo 360 is approximately 10% lighter than the Insta360 X5. It offers compatibility with a range of accessories, including selfie sticks and bike mounts, and features direct integration with DJI's wireless microphones, such as the Mic 2. The camera also includes various creative shooting modes, such as panoramic, vortex, hyperlapse, and a single lens mode. While the Insta360 X5 remains a favorite for its replaceable lenses in case of damage—a feature the Osmo 360 does not offer—the new DJI camera presents a compelling alternative, especially considering its competitive pricing. It is available starting at £410 in the UK and $759 in Australia. Direct availability in the US at launch is not confirmed. TechRadar is currently conducting in-depth tests to determine which model ultimately comes out on top.
