Amazon unveils new cheaper Fire TV 4K stick with new-gen software, plus new very affordable Fire TV sets
At a recent product launch event, Amazon introduced its latest innovation, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, alongside a brand-new operating system dubbed Vega OS. The presenter, speaking to an engaged audience, emphasized the device's enhanced performance and affordability, stating, "It is the fastest 4K stick under $40." The new Fire TV Stick is designed to maximize visual quality, utilizing "every pixel on the screen," and comes with all necessary components for immediate use. The unveiling of Vega OS marked a significant development, described as an "entirely new operating system" built from the ground up. This OS is set to power not only the new Fire TV Stick but also future Echo devices. According to the presenter, Vega OS is "highly responsive" and "super efficient," ensuring fast app launches and smooth navigation. He further elaborated on the development process, noting, "Apps developed can write directly to the metal with C++ and Rust, or use React Native and web technologies to bring their apps to the platform." A wide range of streaming partners, including YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+, have reportedly collaborated to integrate their services, demonstrating a broad ecosystem of content.
