International Rescue Teams Stage Major Drill in Gdańsk
International Search and Rescue Teams Conduct Drills in Poland A major search and rescue exercise, MODEX 2025, took place in Gdańsk, Poland, involving teams from five European countries. The simulation focused on a large-scale incident at the Gdansk port, testing the coordination and response capabilities of international teams. The drills highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration in disaster response. "We are checking our own preparedness, equipment, procedures and the training of rescuers," said Lt. Col. Rafał Sołowiński of the Polish State Fire Service. Claus TrieBenbacher of the Austrian Armed Forces added, "Each country with the appropriate resources can offer them and send its units." The exercise is part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, a system designed to assist member states during emergencies. The successful completion of MODEX 2025 demonstrates the preparedness of European nations to respond effectively to major incidents, ensuring a coordinated and efficient rescue effort when needed.
