Polish Women Sculptors Defy Expectations in "Kierunek Paryż" Exhibition
Warsaw's Królikarnia hosts the "Kierunek Paryż" exhibition, showcasing the work of Polish women sculptors who defied societal norms to study and create in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibition, curated by Ewa Ziembińska, features diverse sculptures in various materials, highlighting the artists' individual styles. "In those times, a father or husband decided on a woman's choices, and it took a lot of courage to pursue one's dreams," Ziembińska explains. The exhibit includes works by artists like Miłka Skalska and Mika Mickun, whose large-scale ceramic sculptures demonstrate impressive technical skill. The exhibition is a testament to the resilience and talent of these pioneering women, who overcame significant obstacles to leave their mark on the art world. The exhibition runs until June 26th.
