Poland Launches 'Drone Valley' Initiative to Boost Domestic Drone Industry
Poland to Establish 'Drone Valley' to Boost Domestic Industry and Reduce Reliance on Foreign Technology Rzeszów, Poland – In a significant move to bolster its domestic drone industry and reduce reliance on foreign technology, Poland has signed a letter of intent to establish a "Drone Valley" in the Podkarpackie region. The initiative, unveiled in a recent Teleexpress TVP report, brings together government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from drone technology firms. The signing ceremony was attended by the President of Rzeszów and representatives of companies developing drone technologies. The EU Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, "It's not just about drone production, but about the entire ecosystem of adaptation and modernization of drones for use on the front lines." The war in Ukraine has underscored the critical need for a robust and independent drone sector. Janusz Michaleowicz, representing the firm Eurotech from Mielec, highlighted the challenges faced by small businesses in competing in the Ukrainian or even the Polish markets for uniformed services, adding, "We hope this initiative will support such producers." The agreement is expected to benefit Podkarpackie businesses and further establish Poland as a key player in the European drone market. This initiative represents a significant step towards technological self-sufficiency and strengthens Poland's position in the global drone industry.
