Poland to Implement Gender-Neutral Language and Anti-Discrimination Measures in Universities
Poland's Ministry of Science and Higher Education is spearheading an initiative to foster a more inclusive environment within the nation's universities. The initiative, developed in conjunction with the Academic Network for Safety and Equality, focuses on implementing gender-neutral language and promoting anti-discrimination practices across all higher education institutions. According to Karolina Ziolo-Puzuk, deputy minister of science and higher education, "We aim to create a safer and more inclusive environment, tackling issues such as violence and mobbing." The initiative includes the creation of a dedicated spokesperson for gender-diverse individuals, revisions to university documentation to ensure inclusive language, and mandatory training programs designed to educate students on these important issues. The ministry is actively gathering feedback from gender-diverse students to better understand their needs and tailor the recommendations effectively. The complete set of recommendations is expected to be finalized by the autumn.
