Madrid Metro Line 6 Closure: 60 Free Buses Keep City Moving
Madrid Metro Line 6 Partially Closed: Free Buses Keep Commuters Moving Madrid, Spain – June 2, 2025 – Madrid's Metro Line 6 experienced a partial closure on Monday, June 2nd, impacting service between Moncloa and Méndez Álvaro stations. This disruption is due to extensive track renovations, impacting commuters, particularly those heading to Ciudad Universitaria for university entrance exams. To alleviate the situation, the Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT) deployed 60 free shuttle buses, designated as the SE-6 line. These buses run from 6 AM to 2 AM, with a frequency of every 3-5 minutes. "The buses are running every three to five minutes, and there's a lot of monitoring," stated an EMT worker interviewed by Telemadrid near the Moncloa station. He also noted that, at the time of the interview, each bus was carrying around 10 passengers, with ridership expected to increase during peak hours. The video shows the buses in operation, along with maps highlighting the affected section of the metro line and alternative bus routes. The efficient implementation of the shuttle service ensures minimal disruption to the public, demonstrating a proactive response to the situation. The temporary closure is scheduled to last until September 12th.
