Las Vegas Cracks Down on E-Scooter, E-Bike Recklessness After Rise in Deadly Accidents
Clark County addresses rising e-vehicle accident deaths with new regulations. Las Vegas, Nevada – In response to a concerning rise in fatalities involving electric bikes and scooters, Clark County commissioners have unanimously passed a new ordinance aimed at improving safety. The ordinance introduces several key changes, including a ban on electric all-terrain motorcycles in county parks, a mandatory helmet rule for riders under 18, and restrictions on reckless behavior such as wheelies. Violators face fines of up to \$600. "I think it's a very good measure," said Hilda Cranmer, a Las Vegas resident, expressing support for the new rules. Another resident, Zaira Cousins, while agreeing on the need for safety precautions, also highlighted the need for improved public transportation to make the city more accessible. The city of Henderson adopted a similar ordinance in December 2024, prohibiting motorized vehicles in parks. The new regulations reflect a broader effort to address the growing popularity of e-bikes and scooters while ensuring public safety.
