Woman Dies Jumping from Burning Building in Milan; Husband Questioned
Tragedy in Milan: Woman Dies After Jumping from Burning Building A 48-year-old Brazilian woman, Sueli Leal Barbosa, died in Milan, Italy, after jumping from the fourth floor of her apartment to escape a fire. The incident occurred late at night on Viale Abruzzi 64. Ms. Barbosa was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries hours later. Two other individuals sustained minor injuries. Adding to the tragedy, initial investigations suggest Ms. Barbosa's apartment door was locked from the outside. Neighbors recounted a harrowing scene, describing her desperate pleas for help as she jumped from the window to evade the flames. "She was screaming, calling for help," one neighbor stated. Police are questioning Ms. Barbosa's 45-year-old husband, a fellow Brazilian national, following reports of a recent argument between the couple. The husband was found at a nearby bar. This is not the first time police have been called to their residence for a domestic dispute. Ms. Barbosa worked as a nurse and had a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship. The son was fortunately staying with his father at the time of the incident. Neighbors described Ms. Barbosa as a quiet and peaceful woman, often seen walking with her son and his grandmother. The sale of the apartment was reportedly being planned by Sueli alone. The investigation is ongoing.
