Unexplained DNA Evidence in Karen Read Trial

The Karen Read trial took another turn today with the cross-examination of Andre Porto, a Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab analyst. Porto testified about DNA evidence found on the passenger-side taillight of a vehicle central to the case. "Three contributors of DNA to that taillight attached to the vehicle," Porto stated. One of the DNA profiles was identified as belonging to John O'Keefe. However, the identities of the other two contributors remain unknown. When asked if he compared the DNA to samples from other officers, Porto replied, "I was not." The trial continues, and the mystery surrounding the unidentified DNA profiles remains a key point of contention.
