VERNON, NJ – A black bear unexpectedly entered a Dollar General store in Vernon, Sussex County, on Wednesday, prompting a calm yet urgent response from a local resident. The incident, captured on video, shows the large bear navigating the store's aisles, seemingly disoriented. Sean Clarkin, a local real estate agent who was present at the scene, took the initiative to guide the animal. In the footage, Clarkin can be heard speaking to the bear in a steady tone, directing it towards the exit. Shoppers maintained a safe distance as the bear was escorted through the store and eventually out the front door. No injuries or significant damage were reported. Wildlife officials were not immediately called to the scene, as the situation was resolved by the quick thinking of the civilian. The bear subsequently departed the area, returning to its natural habitat.
