Welsh Nurse's Emotional Plea at Gaza Border Highlights Humanitarian Crisis
A Welsh nurse, identified as a participant in the "Global March to Gaza," was filmed making an impassioned appeal to Egyptian authorities at the Gaza border. The nurse, visibly distressed, implored officials to allow him and other activists to proceed into Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. In his plea, the nurse described the severe conditions within Gaza, stating, "They're babies and women. The women are trying to feed their dying babies, and their breasts are empty." He emphasized the urgent need for assistance, recounting personal experiences of holding dying infants. "I've had babies die in my arms. They've shot pregnant women in front of me," he asserted, highlighting the profound human suffering he has witnessed. The nurse, who stated he had personally funded his journey, appealed to the authorities' sense of humanity and religious values. "For humanity and for love, stand with your brothers and sisters in Palestine," he urged. He stressed the diverse nature of the humanitarian group, comprising "Muslims, Christians, atheists, Jews," all united by a common goal of assisting those in need. He concluded by begging the authorities to reconsider their stance, stating, "You don't have to follow the orders. Allow us to march to Gaza." The "Global March to Gaza" is described as a "civic, apolitical, and independent movement" aiming to deliver aid to the region. Organizers reported that passports of 40 activists were confiscated, and an Egyptian official confirmed the deportation of more than three dozen activists who arrived at Cairo International Airport without required authorizations for Northern Sinai, an area considered highly sensitive.
