Sarah Harding's Legacy: NHS Trial to Screen Women for Breast Cancer at 30
A new NHS trial, inspired by the late Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, is offering breast cancer checks to women aged 30. The initiative, led by Harding's doctor, aims to lower the current screening age from 50 to 30. This decision follows research indicating a higher breast cancer risk for younger women. Dr. Sasha How, Harding's physician, stated, "Breast cancer kills more British women aged 35-50 than anything else. We want to identify women at increased risk so we can start screening earlier." The trial will offer mammograms and DNA analysis from saliva samples. Remaining Girls Aloud members have voiced their support, emphasizing the potential life-saving impact of this study. This initiative signifies a significant step towards improving early detection and treatment of breast cancer in younger women.
