Ghana to Recruit Hundreds of Unemployed Health Professionals
Ghana Approves Recruitment of Unemployed Health Professionals; Finance Ministry Clearance Awaited Accra, Ghana – The Ghanaian Ministry of Health has announced its approval for the recruitment of hundreds of unemployed graduate health professionals. This decision follows months of advocacy from various groups representing these professionals. However, the recruitment process is currently pending final financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance, according to Tony Goodman, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health. "We've gotten that assurance," Goodman stated in a recent interview. "The woman in charge of compensation, the director in charge of that compensation, has also informed the ministry that they've worked on some of them. We will announce to the public what we have gotten from the Ministry of Finance." Goodman further clarified that the delay is due to the need for the Ministry of Finance to provide the necessary budgetary allocation for the recruitment. The spokesperson listed several health professions included in the recruitment, including nutrition promoters, audiologists, biomedical engineers, and occupational therapists, among others. The Ministry of Health expects to finalize the recruitment process and make a public announcement in the coming days. This announcement brings hope to many unemployed graduate health professionals in Ghana, who have long awaited opportunities to contribute their skills to the country's healthcare system.
