Miami, Florida - Ricardo Quintana, a 57-year-old Peruvian national, has been deported from the United States after being arrested for selling ceviche informally in Miami. Quintana, who reportedly held political asylum and a valid work permit until 2030, claims he endured a harrowing 50-day period in US detention, during which he was transferred through seven different correctional facilities. He described being handcuffed and chained, and reported experiencing extreme cold, overcrowding, infestations, and various forms of abuse during his incarceration. One of the facilities he mentioned was 'Alligator Alcatraz,' which he described as a maximum-security prison surrounded by swamps with crocodiles. Overwhelmed by the conditions, Quintana ultimately signed a voluntary deportation order. He returned to Peru, where he was met by his emotional mother. Quintana plans to document his experiences in a book, contending that the US system unfairly criminalizes migrants for minor infractions.
