Kharkiv Undergoes Devastating Attack: Residents Recount Terror
Kharkiv Undergoes Devastating Attack: Residents Recount Terror Kharkiv, Ukraine, experienced one of the most intense attacks since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion early Saturday morning, June 7th, 2025. Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported at least 40 explosions, a combination of missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs. The assault resulted in the tragic deaths of at least three people. Two fatalities occurred in the Osnovyanskyi district due to a residential building fire, and one in the Kyivskyi district. The attack follows a recent Ukrainian drone operation that reportedly damaged a significant number of Russian cruise missile carriers. "It was a horrible morning in Kharkiv," stated Mayor Terekhov in an interview. He described the attack as the most powerful since the war's start. Footage shows a nine-story residential building engulfed in flames, with firefighters battling the blaze. A resident, Alona Lukianova, described the terrifying moments: "When they (attack drones) started buzzing closer and closer, we took our dog and cats and hid behind the wall in the corridor. It had hardly been 20 seconds after we hid when the explosion happened." The attack also damaged civilian infrastructure, including a music school and administrative buildings. While Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed responsibility for "high-precision strikes" on military targets, Ukrainian officials labeled the strikes as retaliatory and condemned the targeting of civilian areas. The event underscores the ongoing conflict's devastating impact on Ukrainian civilians.
