Fonasa's 'Copago Cero': Millions of Chileans Benefit from Reduced Healthcare Costs
Chile's Fonasa 'Copago Cero' initiative provides significant healthcare cost relief for many citizens. The program, designed to make healthcare more accessible, covers a substantial portion of medical expenses for individuals in specific income brackets. The program has already benefited over 1.6 million people. The video features two compelling case studies. Tiares, a 28-year-old in Fonasa's Tramo D, previously paid 989,506 pesos for treatment, but now pays nothing under the new system. Hector, from Atacama, whose child required treatment for respiratory distress, saw Fonasa cover more than 5 million pesos of the cost, leaving him to pay only 1,365,540 pesos. "This is a huge saving," says Nicole Cardoch, the Subsecretary General of Government. The program represents a significant step towards ensuring affordable healthcare for all Chileans.
