Sarawak's Low-Carbon Hub Development: A Strategic Partnership Between PETROS and CJI Kuching, Sarawak – In a significant move towards sustainable economic growth, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PETROS) and China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Limited (CJI) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on May 21, 2025. This agreement marks the beginning of a joint venture to develop a low-carbon industrial hub in Kuching, Sarawak. The signing ceremony took place in Kuching and was attended by key officials, including Dato Janin Girie, PETROS' Executive Officer, and Song Chinbo, CJI's President. Sarawak's Deputy Minister of Utilities, Dato Ibrahim Baki, and Jiangsu Governor Su Kunlin also witnessed the event. "This collaboration is a testament to our shared commitment to sustainable development," said Dato Janin Girie, CEO of PETROS. "The low-carbon hub will not only create economic opportunities but also contribute to Sarawak's environmental goals." The project, known as the Kuching Low Carbon Hub (KLCH), aims to attract high-tech industries and create a sustainable industrial ecosystem. The KLCH will incorporate advanced technologies to minimize environmental impact.
