Thai Government Websites Targeted in Major Cyberattack Bangkok, Thailand – Thirteen Thai government websites were recently targeted in a sophisticated cyberattack, allegedly perpetrated by a group of Cambodian hackers. A cybersecurity expert, Kong Visal, who has been following the case closely, shared details in a recent TikTok video. He revealed that the hackers used a variety of methods, including changing website pages and posting threatening messages. "The hackers used a combination of techniques to compromise the websites," explains Visal, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity from Royal University of Phnom Penh. "They leveraged social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram to spread their message and potentially recruit accomplices." The attack is believed to be in response to ongoing border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. Visal's video shows evidence of the hacking, including screenshots of defaced websites and messages from the perpetrators. Thai authorities have confirmed the attack and are currently working with international partners to apprehend those responsible. Two suspects have already been identified. The incident highlights the increasing vulnerability of government systems to cyberattacks and the importance of robust cybersecurity measures.
