
Taxi Driver Robbed at Knifepoint in Dubrovno; Suspect Apprehended
In the early hours of May 19, 2025, a 36-year-old taxi driver from Orsha, Belarus experienced a terrifying ordeal. While driving a passenger to a Dubrovno-area residence, he was robbed at knifepoint after the passenger claimed to lack cash. The passenger, identified as a 33-year-old Orsha resident with a criminal history, threatened the driver with what appeared to be a pistol before forcing entry into the home. According to Nadezhda Denisok, an official representative of the Vitebsk regional police department, "The perpetrator, under threat of murder, took 250 rubles from the driver." The swift response of local law enforcement led to the suspect's arrest within a few hours. He now faces up to 15 years imprisonment. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety precautions for taxi drivers and highlights the effectiveness of rapid police response in apprehending criminals.
