Speaking from her car, she explained that her demanding life as a full-time working mother left her with no capacity to investigate her husband's suspicious behavior. "I was a full-time working mother," she stated, recounting her experience in a high-demand sales job that required 70 to 100 calls daily, followed by a challenging long-term substitute teaching position with a particularly difficult fifth-grade class. "It just about killed me," she remarked about the teaching role. Beyond her professional commitments, she was solely responsible for managing her two children's extensive extracurricular schedules, which included ballet, choir, violin, piano, soccer, and church plays. "I was really busy," she emphasized, detailing the constant juggling of activities. Compounding these responsibilities were all household chores, from dishes and laundry to cleaning. She explained that when her husband began to go "missing in action" at night, she was already overwhelmed. "Everything got harder because not only am I going through the grief of not knowing where he is at night, everything is falling on me," she said. She added that she was trying to remain strong for her children, who were also experiencing their own grief over their father's absence. The woman suggested that her demanding schedule inadvertently provided cover for her husband's actions. "Did I have all the time in the world to be hunting him down and tracking him and following him? Yeah, sure, if I had been single with no kids," she mused. "I would have found him within weeks. But I was just swamped with everything."
