Bolivia Recommends Virtual Classes Amidst Cold Wave
Bolivia's Ministries of Education and Health have issued a recommendation for virtual or semi-presential classes in several regions due to a significant drop in temperatures and the increased risk of respiratory illnesses. The recommendation is particularly focused on La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba, and Sucre, where the cold weather poses a significant threat to students' health. A Ministry of Education official stated, "We are taking the margin, seeing the cold conditions of this cold wave." However, the decision on whether to transition to virtual or semi-presential learning will ultimately rest with the departmental directors in each region, allowing for flexibility based on local circumstances. This approach ensures that educational continuity is maintained while prioritizing the well-being of students during the cold spell. The Ministry also clarified that a national winter schedule will not be imposed, recognizing the varying conditions across the country.
