
La Paz Department Confirms Three Measles Cases, First Detected in City
LA PAZ, Bolivia – The La Paz Department has confirmed a total of three measles cases, with the latest detection marking the first instance within La Paz city itself. This announcement was made by a departmental official during a press conference. The first case, involving a 16-year-old adolescent from El Alto, was confirmed on June 17, 2025. This was followed by a second case on June 20, 2025, a 9-month-old girl, also residing in El Alto. The third case, confirmed on June 25, 2025, is significant as it represents the first measles infection identified in the municipality of La Paz. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the department to three. Authorities emphasized the importance of reinforcing health surveillance and public awareness campaigns to prevent further spread of the highly contagious disease across the region.
