Juvenile Charged with First-Degree Murder in Cousin's Death Over iPhone Dispute
A tragic incident has unfolded involving a 12-year-old girl, LaKuvana Parson, who has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of her 8-year-old cousin, Demaria Hollingsworth. The incident, reportedly stemming from a dispute over a mobile phone, occurred on a July evening while the two girls were sleeping at their grandmother's residence. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the sequence of events, showing Parson allegedly suffocating Hollingsworth with a pillow and bedsheet. Following the act, Parson is said to have calmly attempted to conceal the crime by wiping the victim's body and repositioning her to appear as if she were sleeping. The grandmother discovered the grim reality the following morning after reviewing the surveillance footage. During court proceedings, Parson's demeanor has drawn significant attention, with reports indicating she smiled and allegedly mocked the victim's family. She was quoted as stating, "Demaria shouldn't have competed with her for her phone. She brought it all on herself." This apparent lack of remorse has prompted the prosecution to request that she be tried as an adult. Parson is currently held in a juvenile detention center as legal proceedings continue.
